Thirties scene in Duluth?

I am wondering where people in their 30s go out for a few drinks in Duluth? I’m not interested in the college scene.

I'm not much into the late night scene, but when my friends and I meet up (age range 27-33) we often go to establishments like: Tycoons, Black Water, Fitger's Brewhouse, Aces on 29th (Superior), 7 West Tap House.

Obviously our choices are swayed by the opportunity to consume food along with our alcohol.

Add to the above: Zeitgeist, Canal Park Brewing

Carmody is another good one as well.

Summer should give you somewhat of a reprieve from the college scene, but even in the dives it's often hard to escape them, and even if you do, you still have to deal with the hipsters.

I've hit the Canal Park Brewery a couple of times and have been pretty impressed ... good burgs and a good pint to boot!

Now that school is out, the Union (as in burrito) will be relatively vacant after say ... the 10:30 to 11 p.m. range. (It's my local hang and I'm 42.)

I only hang out with gay Asians, crust punks, transplants, art weirdos, and 60+ year-old retirees who patronize the Owls Club, so I can't help you.

Minneapolis.

Really though, you're going to either overlap with the college scene or with the older person scene ... '30s' is not a big thing in Duluth.

We like the Brewhouse restaurants, Lake Ave, Canal Park Brewery, Luce, Carmody, anywhere with good beer and moderate music I guess.

I've been out of town for like 2 years and haven't tried some of the newer places, though!

Red Star is cool...
You can buy whiskey and just go drink it at caribou.

I tend to think rather then "there is no XYZ scene" it is more "the scenes are all kinda mixed together." So, yeah there are some pockets of college kids mainly/older folks mainly there are a lot of college-30s-olders spots.

I am in my 30s and I like T-Bonz Bar and Grill in West Duluth. Also, the Buffalo House (just south of Duluth) is a fun place to hang out. I play on softball teams that frequent these bars, but by no means do you have to be into sports to enjoy these low-key bars. Both have good food with pretty large menus.

I know it isn't Duluth, but I find that Tower avenue bars are more populated with townie-types. Lucky's is a billiard, but it's my favorite and you won't find college students there. Thirsty Pagan is another great place and they have pizza.

I think it's easier to tell you where to avoid in Duluth. Don't bother going to Grandma's Sports Garden, it's basically the haven of college kids. I'd also avoid Dubh Linn, the Rex, and Luce unless you're just going there for dinner. I've only been to the new Flame in Duluth once so I don't have a good read on it. I know the one in Superior is popular with the college crowd. I agree with the recommendations of Carmody and the Brewhouse. Generally all places have a healthy mix of people including college kids but the ones above are dominated by the UMD/CSS/UWS set.
