Celebrate the one and only Betty White on her 95th birthday. The Spirit Room will be donating 95 cents from the proceeds from each sale of a "Betty White Russian" cocktail to the Humane Society of Douglas County to honor the actress' love of animals. will also have donation boxes for additional donations you may want to give. As Betty White would say, "Vodka is kind of a hobby."

In the 13th annual fundraiser for the Superior Amateur Hockey Association, teams of four adults compete in a round-robin-style hockey tournament on a 140-by-70-foot section of the bay on Barker's Island, with small snowbanks serving as boards. The tourney runs Jan. 27-29. Each team plays three to five games within their division, with each division having a championship game and semi-finals. All games are 30 minutes and consist of two 15-minute halves.

Northwood Children's Services' fifth annual Art Sled Rally features creative cardboard boxes that can be transformed into sharks, boats, rocket ships or any other creatively decorated sled that can be used to cruise riders down the hill. United Way of Greater Duluth’s 22nd annual Day of Caring matches teams of community-minded volunteers with local nonprofit agencies in need of extra hands. Volunteers can tackle agency projects such as painting, planning activities for kids, collecting supplies, landscaping, light maintenance and many other opportunities.
