Hellwig Hollow is a terrifying quarter-mile walk through the woods on a haunted trail about 20 miles northwest of Duluth, in the unincorporated community of Canyon. The trail features live actors and detailed sets, and is open from 7 to 11 p.m. on Friday and Saturday nights from Sept. 27 to Halloween, with the last tickets sold at 10:45. Admission is $20. Lake Superior Zoo presents three Saturdays of Halloween hoopla withe trick-or-treating, food trucks, games, activities, and more. Boo at the Zoo runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Oct. 12, 19 and 26. The Duluth library is hosting Pumpkin Palooza this spooky season. All the materials need to paint, carve and create a pumpkins will be provided. True North Goodwill hosts the annual Halloween Bash. The party includes live music, dinner and drinks, a costume contest and a silent auction. Goodwill representatives share their vision and dreams for the community. Early bird tickets are $50 until September 1 and $55 after. Experience the fun of night by hiking with a self-guided, glow-stick illuminated hike on the Waabizheshikana Trail and finish things off with s'mores. Start at Indian Point Campground and follow the glow sticks on the 0.5 mi loop on the gravel path. Bring your own glow sticks, glow in the dark clothing, light up shoes or whatever you can find to add some flare to your hike. Drop in anytime 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Organist, improviser and composer Aaron David Miller is accompanying the silent film, The Phantom of the Opera. This event features spooky games, crafts, candy, a costume contest with prizes and even an opportunity to wanted around the first floor of the mansion. All little ones must be accompanied by adults.
