Perfect Duluth Day is the original culture website of the Arrowhead region. Combining magazine-style journalism with the crowdsourcing abilities of modern social media, PDD stands alone as Duluth’s Duluthiest website.

The primary components of PDD are the groundbreaking blog at perfectduluthday.com and the PDD Calendar, the Duluth area’s most complete source for daily happenings such as concerts, plays, sports and seminars, found at perfectduluthday.com/calendar.

Perfect Duluth Day was founded in 2003 and became a limited liability company in 2009. It is a worker-owned operation; current partners are Lawrence Lee, Cory Fechner, Brian Barber and Paul Lundgren.

Content on Perfect Duluth Day is created by hundreds of registered users, who author the posts that appear each day. Some are paid journalists; others are random community members. Thousands more contribute through comments to the posts. Google Analytics estimates more than 25,000 unique visitors read PDD’s content each month.

PDD’s publishing platform is WordPress, an open source application that manages blog content. Prior to Jan. 30, 2009, PDD used two other platforms: Moveable Type (2005 to 2009) and Blogger (2003 to 2005).

Scott “Starfire” Lunt and Barrett Chase founded Perfect Duluth Day, launching the website on June 29, 2003. Their goal was to develop a community blog for Duluthians to share information about the events, history and culture of the area. Chase exited the partnership in 2015 and Lunt exited in 2020.
