The Christmas City Express on the North Shore Scenic Railroad is an annual train ride and storytelling experience. Trains leave from the Depot on Fridays and Saturdays from Nov. 29 to Dec. 21. Duluth's mega Christmas-light spectacular is the largest walk-through display of lights in America. Guests are invited to stroll under the glow of more than five million lights in a 20-acre park on the shores of Lake Superior. Mr. and Mrs. Claus, along with Rudolph the Red-nosed Reindeer, will be on hand for photos and handing out candy canes. The annual Boubville light installation -- not at all to be confused with Bentleyville -- takes place in a garage and yard in Duluth's Central Hillside neighborhood. Artistic experiences to expect include live music and projection art. The event runs Dec. 12-14. Family night on Thursday includes activities such as the opportunity to meet a sled dog, an interactive sound sculpture, a blacklight forest, a craft tent, murals and space-clown face painting.
