DSSO Masterworks IV: Coleridge-Taylor & Sibelius
The Duluth Superior Symphony Orchestra celebrates Sergei Rachmaninoff’s 150th birthday. The show opens with Rachmaninoff’s The Rock, a symphonic poem that describes the events of a storm ridden Christmas Eve. It’s a perfect opener for Samuel Coleridge-Taylor’s Othello Suite, based on Shakespeare’s famous play. The Duluth Superior Symphony Orchestra presents a tribute to motion picture score composer John Williams. The preformance will include themes from blockbuster favorites like Jurassic Park, Star Wars, Harry Potter and more. Tickets to a casual version of the show at 2 p.m. are $10 for adults and free for children age 17 and younger. Tickets to the main show at 7 p.m. range from $10 to $60.

DSSO Masterworks V: Gershwin & Rachmaninoff
The Duluth Superior Symphony Orchestra presents the music of George Gershwin, William Grant Still and Sergei Rachmaninoff. What do they have in common? They were almost neighbors. All three lived in Hollywood in the 1930s and 40s, working on some of their greatest music. Gershwin compiled his suite from Porgy and Bess there called Catfish Row. DSSO Masterworks VI: Elgar & Bruckner
The Duluth Superior Symphony Orchestra performs music composed or inspired by Edward Elgar and Anton Bruckner. Gustav Mahler called Hans Rott the “Founder of the New Symphony” and Rott was one of Bruckner’s favorite students. His Julius Caesar Overture gives a hint of the genius that Mahler admired so much. DSSO Masterworks VII: Copland & Beethoven
The Duluth Superior Symphony Orchestra closes its season with a celebration of singing. From Jessie Montgomery’s exploration of the U.S. anthem, Banner, the show moves to Copland’s classic Old American Songs. Beethoven’s towering Symphony No.9, ending with the iconic "Ode to Joy."
