Video Archive: “Fly High Duluth”
It’s been ten years since Saturday Night Live aired its skit about a local band, led by Jack Daniels-guzzling Wally Hamrlik and his wife Char, who overstay their welcome while performing “Fly High Duluth,” the theme song for morning show Duluth Live. The sketch originally aired on Jan. 14, 2006, and was first posted to Perfect Duluth Day on on Jan. 16, 2006. Happy Saturday.

That was fun — missed it the first time — song was not very Duluthian, but I think the comedy was supposed to be the name Duluth.
Funny that you would post this now – I was singing this last Friday for some reason.
The irony is just too much.
The band is doing what SNL does best – a simple gag that’s inexplicably dragged out over a 10 minute sketch. Just like the hosts, I end up asking myself “oh, they’re still going?”
