2 p.m. – Trampled by Turtles plays Live in Studio A on KUMD 103.3 FM with Christine Dean. The band plays “Midnight on the Interstate” live in the studio, interrupted by a test of the emergency alert tone. Second song — “Alone.” Third song — “The Calm and the Crying Wind.”
2:28 p.m. – About 30 people in line at Clyde.
2:50 p.m. – The line starts getting long.
3:30 p.m. Over 400 wristbands distributed. About 600 left. No more line to wait in. Easy process.

5 p.m. Bill Flannagan, the Moon is Down, Batteries and Lookdown Moon live on a two-hour episode of The Local on KUMD.
6:30 p.m. Doors open at Clyde.
7 p.m. About 100 wristbands still available at showtime. Equal Xchange plays an impressive set, but most people aren’t paying attention.
8 p.m. Father Hennepin is in top form. By the way, Starfire hasn’t worn that coat since 1999.
9:15ish Trampled by Turtles start. Things get fuzzy.

Whatever. I’ve been camping out since Sunday for Equal Xchange. It’s the name of the game, you know.

1:30 PM — the Bentzes went to the beach and listened to the new Squarepusher album on the way out and back. TBT was not mentioned.
I thought biking there to get a wristband and then going back home and taking a shower would be a good plan.
Shower + paper wristband = idiot.
It’s Tyvek, not paper. It’ll last through the shower. I’ve had my Lucé wristband on through three showers now, and it’s still perfectly fine.

Thanks for The Local shout-out. That was fun, but exhausting. I suspect the Moon is Down will be one of the loudest acts to have played in studio. It’s all good though.
Rumor has it that Jason Cork wore a Tyvek wristband from a previous Homegrown for almost a year.
Another rumor is that people did show up very early for wristbands at Clyde but “camped out” in their cars. I was told the guy who cleans in the morning was bum-rushed when he went to let himself in at 10:30.
As for “showering” It is very important to maintain proper hygiene to protect yourself against the “Chicken Flu.”
The TBT show could not have gone better. PA was loaded in at 10AM and was in the truck by 1AM. A wonderful group of Gallus band members and fans helped load all the gear on the truck. Including one girl in high heels that worked harder than anyone else and totally rocked.
A band played in Duluth, I’m psyched!!!
That’ll teach me not to schedule live sessions the first Wednesday of the month (aka EAS test day).
