Oh my gosh, does that mean I won’t get any more mailers on this topic? YESSSSSS

So glad all the years of repression and hardship will finally pay off for you, Elly.

I don’t know about Thomas Huntley but we heard yesterday at a MN United event that Mary Murphy is still on the fence. Erik Simonson is no problem, he is a co-sponsor of the bill.

Hey, I called my representative. I also don’t like wasteful junk mail. It’s possible to care about two things at once.

Awesome news! I don’t know for sure, but I would imagine Tom Huntley’s on board. He gave a good speech on the House floor a couple of years ago after wingnut Bradlee Dean delivered a nutty “prayer.”

House leaders said they wouldn’t bring it to the floor unless they had the votes, but there’s no doubt it is still gonna be close. Every phone call or e-mail could make the difference.

    Please let it happen.

Huntley’s cool on this issue. He wrote me a great three page response in which he, or his staffer, really made great arguments.

Reinert has not responded to me, but I imagine he’s OK too.

A month or so ago it was the Senate they where worried wouldn’t have the votes, now it seems that the real action is the House, and I gotta say the gut feeling is they have the votes (yay!), both the main sponsor and the House leader seem to think so and the Republicans have indicated they are resigned to it passing. The concern was with more rural DFLers being scared about their new seats. And even there they have been trickling in on supporting the bill. So yeah Huntley and Simonson seem on board, but still call them and offer encouragement. Didn’t know Murphy’s stance…

Keeping my fingers crossed on this one! Come on Minnesota, make us proud! I live out in Moorhead and I contacted Ben Lien and Kent Eken a while back about this issue. Lien is completely for Marriage Equality and Eken said he would take my statements into consideration. Later on I heard that he is now in favor of the bill so hopefully that means 2 YES votes from the Moorhead/Central Western part of the state. Too bad there are so many rural Democrats that are afraid to vote for what is right because of how their constituents voted on the Marriage Amendment last fall. Also, I heard about Rep. Joe Radinovich’s plan on voting Yes and I applaud him for this! Both excited and nervous for Thursday. Here we go Minnesota, let’s make it a true dozen and be #12!

Sen. Reinert has consistently been supportive of marriage equality.

  12. Tom on May 9, 2013 at 2:12 pm

Simonson, Huntley and Murphy all voted in favor of the bill.

It passed the House! Scheduled Senate vote Monday. We’re number 12! We’re number 12! We’re number 12!

Is it relatively safe to assume that the Democratic majority in the Senate means it will pass there? Anyone know?

  15. TimK on May 9, 2013 at 3:37 pm

It looks good based on statements made by party leaders. Wouldn’t hurt to call or email your Senators over the next couple of days!

I don’t want to curse us with hubris, but we’re good to go in the Senate.

    Thank God,,thank god, thank god.

I am so proud to be a Minnesotan.

It is said that, in the senate, it will not be brought to the floor unless the votes are there. Looks like it’s going to happen.

Wife, son, and I are driving up to be present in the rotunda when the debate/vote takes place.

    Historic times.
