Cool Vintage Stage

Hi everyone! I am looking for a old-school vintage stage in the Duluth area. The NorShor Theatre is out and so is the Armory because they are both undergoing construction. Are there any other stages in the Duluth, Superior or North Shore area that someone may know about that have an old-school vibe?

Denfeld Auditorium

Hibbing High School Auditorium

For some reason I can't find an image, but ...

Neither the NorShor nor Armory are "undergoing construction."

Right. NorShor and Armory are both raising funds and planning for renovations, but there is no construction underway.

I was going to say Scottish Rite Auditorium, I've seen a few plays there, it's straight out of the 1930s!

Kalevala Hall in Virginia had great ole stage set up, hall is very small so maybe seats 100 (?) at most, if you're willing to go to the Range.

Scottish Rite is fantastic. Greenway auditorium in Coleraine is also pretty great.

I think the Woodland middle school auditorium holds a lot of promise for events, too. Not for beauty necessarily but from a size and utilitarian standpoint. Not sure what is happening with that building.

Scottish Rite is beautiful! A large, wood theatre with Egyptian art deco style.

Norway Hall, 21 N. Lake Ave. in Duluth, also has a cool stage -- fit for a king and queen -- but it's small.

As far as who to contact at Scottish Rite ... I know I have his card, but since I can't remember his name I can't find it alphabetically. But if you call 218-722-2420 someone should be able to point you in the right direction. Also, you can pretty much just drop in there on a Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday between 9:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.

NorShor - what is really happening is that the city has taken proposals from private companies to pay for the renovation. The deadline is past and they are now deciding which proposal to use.

There is a chance to check out the Scottish Rite Auditorium in action soon. Comic stunt juggler Tuey Wilson performs there on Nov. 5.

Tuey is an act not to be missed. I make a point to see him at the Minnesota Ren Faire.
