Walking Dead at Zinema2

Dragon Port Games and Comics will host the premiere of AMC’s The Walking Dead on Oct. 31, Halloween night, at the Zinema2 movie theater in Downtown Duluth.

Robert Kirman’s award-winning comic series focuses on the human condition in a post-apocalyptic world, making for a fantastic adventure into the popular genre of zombies and drama. Follow Rick Grimes in his adventures as he awakens, alone and confused, trying to make his way home to his wife, Lori and son, Carl — all the while meeting new folks along the way and trying to survive.

The pilot introduces us to several main characters directed by Frank Darabont (The Shawshank Redemption, Green Mile) that will come across as both dramatic and emotional.

Tickets are available at Dragon Port Games and Comics with the purchase of any Walking Dead-related item.

3 S. Fourth Ave. W., Duluth
Open 11am-9pm M-Sat 12am-7pm Sun.

Great graphic novel series. Borrows from all the best of the genre and puts it together. I hope this does well for AMC. Would love to see a series based on WWZ make it to TV. I fear a movie would not do justice.

What should I do if I own all the walking dead comics already? Can I buy another comic book to buy a ticket?

Annie -- Great news (I'm just a customer, but I'm pumped about this event) -- free tickets will be available for free from the Zinema on the day of the show.

The Zinema is doing an awesome thing, making this available to the public for free. Just drop by the Zinema beginning on Friday.

Cool free things go fast; get yours soon!

I was wondering the same thing as Annie. Already have all the Walking Dead stuff I need so I'm glad to hear tickets are available at Zinema, David! Thanks!

Congrats to Tim at the Zinema, Sir Jeff Niceswanger (the idea man and poster-maker) and Donny Krosch (co-owner of Dragonport Games and Comics).

The movie rocked, the house was at least 90% full (no more than two open seats per row), and the patrons were dressed to kill. (Hat Tip to the very nerdly Commander Data in the back of the theatre -- although he looked pretty comfy in that shirt).

And, on my end, I coughed in $28+ for refreshments (two candies, a popcorn, a pop, and a pitcher of Stella) to say "thank you" to the Zinema. If we want more free awesomeness like this in the future, we need to do our part to support both Dragonport Games and Comics and the Zinema.

Congrats to all -- a great night out!

I wish I had more arms so I could give last night's event more thumbs up! What a fantastic turn out of zombie enthusiasts!

The first show was great and a good time was had by all. Hats off to Sir Jeff for putting this thing together, what an incredible success. Good job bud.

I am quite pleased to see that this will be a weekly event. (Very awesome for those of us with no cable.)

There was a pretty big crowd last night too - hope the free seats don't 'sell out'! How will tickets be handled in the future? First come, first served?

You can secure yer spot by purchasing a $5 drink voucher but I don't expect it to perform as well as it did last night. Cheers!

I'd like to see some more synergy from Dragon Port on this -- some quizzes, maybe with a few prizes (even if a prize is just a coupon to DP); maybe even some Walking Dead for sale in the lobby if that's allowable; zombie limericks (now I'm just making stuff up)?

This is a real chance for some synergy between two of the local institutions that make Duluth cool.

...run properly, I think it could get MORE successful than last night.
