They Would Know, Wouldn’t They?

The DNT ran an article today about jobless rates in the Northland.  I don’t know about the dead-tree version, but online they ran a photo of an empty cubicle with the story. The photo appears to be an empty cubicle at the paper itself.  I’m sure there are a lot of those around these days.

I'd like to think that's the DNT photographer's small act of rebellion against their corporate honchos in Fargo -- or just "The Man."

Let's hope that they *do* go to the 'All Grandma's Bragbook' format.

I noticed that, too! And I think Calk is right - I figured it was some small subversive act.

So ironic. So true.

Interesting theory, but it looks more like a basic piece of clip art from iStockphoto or some such place. Too clean, for one thing. No dust.

It's the DNT, all right.

Not that I got all day to argue about it, but first you say it "appears to be" the DNT, then you say it definitely is, what made you change your mind in between?

udarnik is right. It IS the DNT in that photo. There is no question.

I hedged in the OP because, as a former employee of the DNT, I was pretty darn sure it was at the DNT but didn't want to make PDD look stupid (or myself, for that matter, in my first OP) by issuing a blanket mock and then be proven wrong. In the meantime, other former DNTers have confirmed to me that the photo was indeed taken at the DNT.

Start a rumor you're pretty darn sure is true and hope it turns out to be. Glad it worked out, but do they teach that in journalism school?

I don't think that was "start(ing) a rumor." It was more of a commentary on an irony that would have existed even if the photo wasn't of a DNT cubical.

Okay, sorry to be the grouch in the trashcan. But this is an era when people are getting more of their news from blogs (I found this thread through Aaron Brown's blog), so we need to be more careful about what we post.

If people are making the decision to get their news from blogs, that falls on the person not the blog.

Looks like they pulled the image off the online version of the article.

They're still hosting it, though, if you click on the link in the OP.
