Show and Tell, my turn

This nice little button celebrates the dedication of Enger Tower. The King and Queen of Norway were on hand along with many prominent Duluth dignitaries. I’ve had this thing for more than 30 years- I think an ex-girlfriend’s mother was cleaning out a junk drawer and gave it to me…

Hot!
The “Royal Couple” were not King and Queen, though. They were Prince Olav and Princess Martha. Olav did eventually ascend to the throne, in 1957. Martha, however, had died before that happened.
You are correct, sir! It really was a fascinating time in history. Later that fall, Hitler invaded Poland (Denmark and Norway the following spring). We in the US were in the midst of the Great Depression and a few years away from entering the war. And speaking of the Depression, Enger Tower was built with federal stimulus funds (the CCC and WPA). Now, during the Great Recession, stimulus money is going to repairing Central Entrance (and other local roadways).
Thanks for sharing your treasure.
