STEM Bots Series
Learn and play with robots. Participants will be introduced to coding with various, easy-to-program robots. These little bots open up the creative side of coding, while promoting problem-solving skills, communication, and teamwork. This program will be enjoyed by kids the most and tweens could still be interested. Teens might be too old to get the same experience. Other Dates: July 15 September 16 November 18

The ALEIA Project presents the Northland 5K for Food Allergy, a chip-timed run/walk event with an out-and-back course that follows the Duluth Lakewalk toward Canal Park with a turn-around point just before the lighthouse. Staci Lola Drouillard is presenting a story-time and book-signing as she debuts her new children's book A Family Tree. Staci Lola Drouillard lives and works in her hometown of Kitchibitobig — Grand Marais. Her first book for adults, Walking the Old Road: A People’s History of Chippewa City and the Grand Marais Anishinaabe, won the Hamlin Garland Prize in Popular History, the Northeastern Minnesota Book Award for nonfiction and was a finalist for the Minnesota Book Award.

Duluth Children's Museum is offering monthly Play and Learn sessions. Caregivers and children will enjoy a hands-on STEAM program, followed with museum exploration. Other early childhood development resources provided by the Northland Foundation will be available to participants. Pre-registration is not required and sessions are open for everyone.

Walk for Animals 2024
Walk for Animals is more than just a walk. There will be vendors and entertainment to enjoy. Food Trucks, balloon twisting, a 360 photo booth, ball drop, a caricature artist, vendors will be at the park. The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources offers free admission to all 75 Minnesota state parks and recreation areas on four days each year. On Free Park Days the DNR waives the requirement for a vehicle permit to enter state parks and recreation areas. The entrance fee waiver does not cover activities like camping, rentals or tours. In this five session summer camp series, young artists will create nature-inspired screen printed shirts, clay planters, one-of-a-kind nature jewelry and trading postcards. This class at Whole Foods Co-op - Denfeld teaches how to make ice cream using old-fashioned techniques. Ice and salt will be used to compare two batches of ice cream: one batch is hand churned and the other uses an electric mixer. Participants will be taught about the chemistry of the process and create two flavors: vanilla and mint chocolate chip.
