Sloppy Cloud Cult post-rainout acoustic set clips from the Twin Ports Bridge Festival
It started raining at the Twin Ports Bridge Festival pretty much the moment Cloud Cult hit the stage. About four songs into the set it started pouring. When the announcement came that the show couldn’t continue, the crowd slowly dispersed, then rushed back when the band started performing unplugged as the rain relented. When informed they needed to get off the wet stage, the band climbed into the pit area behind the guard rail to belt out another tune. Then they escaped under the stage and the downpour resumed.

Video Archive: Bad Company and Damn Yankees at the DECC Arena in 1991
Bad Company played Grand Casino Hinckley last night with Joan Jett & the Blackhearts. Twenty-two years ago, Bad Company toured with Damn Yankees and played the DECC Arena.
The memorable part of the show was that the news came out during the concert that the Gulf War had ended. Ted Nugent celebrated by shooting a cutout of Saddam Hussein with his crossbow. (This seemed spontaneous, but it was actually something he was doing throughout the tour, because he’s Ted Nugent and that’s what he does.)
Bridge Festival schedule confirmed … almost
We know this is ridiculous, but we promise to fit it all in and stay mostly on time. And the forecast is perfect! This schedule includes all the changes, switcharoos, and official times as of noon on the 4th of July (yes, there are still more events in the works we’ll try to update here):

Here’s a sloppy VHS version of KDLH-TV’s coverage of the 2003 Homegrown Music Festival, including clips from the only Homegrown Kickball Classic ever held at the Wade softball fields — and the only time a TV news personality was invited to participate in the game.
Starfire’s fabulous mohawk appears near the end, although the quality of the video doesn’t do it justice.
PDD Band Publicity Photo Showdown: Teague Alexy vs. Tangier 57
Back in April, Perfect Duluth Day launched a series of polls, tournament style, to determine which Duluth-area band had the sweetest pic. Tangier 57 won the championship, and, now that the post-Homegrown grace period is up, must defend its title.

Guy Lombardo regrets
I don’t know if I was being cheap or just avoiding my hoarding instincts, but I regret not coughing up $8 for this Guy Lombardo record at the Wallace Henkins Estate Sale in May. It appears to be a live recording on Duluth station WEBC from Oct. 14, 1948 — I’m not sure. It was an over-sized record, and I wasn’t sure if it would fit on my turntable. So, who picked it up and how long until it’s shared on the Internet?

Volunteer for Rhubarb Fest
The ninth annual CHUM Rhubarb Festival will be held on June 29, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 11th Avenue East and London Road. There will be a delicious array of rhubarb delicacies, including hundreds of pies, muffins and crisps, as well as rhubarb brats and burritos. There will also be a variety of games and crafts, live musical performances and a silent auction. Admission is free! All funds raised will support CHUM’s programs, which provide basic needs services for homeless and marginalized members of the community.

Make Art, Protect Water
Last year, a group of musicians came together in Duluth to record a compilation album titled Industry. Peace. Environment. to raise awareness about sulfide mining and the permanent changes that upcoming decisions could have on the landscape they love. The album features original recordings by Charlie Parr, Snöbarn, the Murder of Crows and many others. The Arrowhead Story, a collective of creative folks interested in sharing the stories of land in Northern Minnesota, is issuing a call for art to adorn the album. Submissions can be in any medium, and should reflect a theme of tension between nature and industrial development. The submission deadline is June 27. The Industry. Peace. Environment. album release party will be on Sept. 7, with a pre-release show at Beaner’s Central on July 20.
Punk show at the Flotsam Lounge
In the unmarked Flotsam building in downtown Duluth, punk-show goers treaded lightly on the pilewood flooring as they ventured down the decrepit steps and into the basement of this rock den. Now this, was a punk venue. The dimly lit corner of the room had just enough space for the essential gear of the bands and oozed the perfect ambiance as shadows of fans flickered across the brick walls.
