Bob Dylan Duluth Concert Photos

Bob-Dylan-Duluth-Bayfront-Park-2013

Some things improve a bit with age. The out of focus shot above is the best I could do at the 2013 Bob Dylan concert in Duluth, but it’s better than I did in 1999, below.

So, who did better than me?

I can certainly say the ground conditions at Bayfront were better in 2013 ...

... than they were in 1999.

Bob was great -- sounds like a crazed grandpa! And his band was the best.

I would have had better photos had I been able to get my camera in. They made me bring it back to my car. I should have read the fine print on the ticket earlier.

Shane raises an interesting point. I had thought big-shot musicians and concert promoters gave up trying to stop people from taking photos a long time ago. Apparently they still nab you if you have a nice camera around your neck with a good lens, but if you have a crappy pocket camera or iPhone they let it go. So the rule must be: You are allowed to take photos, just not good ones.

The guy checking me at the door did say "no professional cameras." I had an SLR with a f2.8 lens, which was too hard to hide.

During My Morning Jacket's performance the security guys where pushing their way through the crowd telling people to put down their phones and small cameras. By the time Wilco started playing the crowd was too thick for security to move through the crowd, so they resorted to shining flashlights and yelling.

Had I read my ticket, I would have brought a smaller decant camera, as they were not actually frisking people.

Does anyone else think it sucks 1999 was almost 15 years ago? Feels like last week. I was talking to a guy last night who was referencing the last time Dylan played Duluth as being five years ago. He got that glazed-over look when I corrected him. As we were leaving probably halfway through the set, (this is true) there was a mom with her daughter by the kiosk and the girl was sort of off to the side, about to hurl. I felt bad for her, and naturally wondered if Bob caused it. Children just aren't used to his new style. I think it causes disorientation in the sensitive ones. I warned parents not to drag their kids along to this show. But no one listened.

This was Instagrammed. It's the view from the front row before Bob went on.

Ryan Dahlberg shot some good stuff, too. Bob looks downright moved to tears in the last one.
