Artists sought to create visuals for Highway 61 Revisited project

Duluth Waterfront Collective is seeking four artists to create visualizations of its Highway 61 Revisited project. As first reported on Perfect Duluth Day in May, the project attempts to redesign the I-35 corridor where it splits Downtown Duluth and the Canal Park Business District.

The goal of the campaign for artwork is to “support local artists, spread awareness about the idea, and inspire the public to get involved,” according to the call for artists on the Seeing is Believing: Visualizing the Highway 61 Revisited Project page. Artists are asked to submit by Jan. 31 a “before” photo of a chosen location along with a written description or sketch of what the “after” rendering will include. Four selected artists will be awarded $1,000 for their submitted works, due May 31.

The project is supported by 8 80 Cities and the Knight Foundation.
