Trampled by Turtles and Prairie Home
Remember when I suggested we do what we can to get Trampled by Turtles on the upcoming A Prairie Home Companion show in Duluth? Well, we did it. Check out PHC Facebook page.

OK first, this is a first. Me writing to suggest we organize an effort to get someone on the stage of A Prairie Home Companion when the show comes to Duluth in February. It’s not quite like calling a local radio station to request a song, but not all that far off either.
It reminds me of the time I called Sirius XM ’60s on 6 host Phlash Phelps when Duluth was the mystery city of the day. I actually sent him about a dozen quick facts which he used throughout the morning. Patty was not amused.
I like Trampled by Turtles (listening now while I pour through data for a report) and believe they’d be a natural for the PHC audience. So, I’ve posted on the PHC Facebook page suggesting they contact the group to see if they’re available. Maybe you’ll consider a similar post.
Hullo, Trampled by Turtles fans!
Stop. Collaborate and listen. The Trampled by Turtles show at the Clyde Iron is going to be awesome. To help keep it awesome, please be aware of the following:
Ticket Information:
Karen Sunderman has a new show on PBS named The PlayList that debuted last night featuring Trampled by Turtles. Here is a link to an interview and more information.
They have many more shows coming up with bands like Cars & Trucks and other local artists appearing on the premiere episode on April 1 @ 9PM. That is also when it begins its regular run, but last night was a preview of what is ahead. It is really great that we now have a television program covering the arts of the Northland. If you have a story idea, want to learn more or are an artist contact them through their site at www.theplaylistonline.org.
For some reason this Minneapolis gypsy, folk super-group has yet to set foot in Duluth but the wait is finally over. A regular main-stay at Minneapolis venues such as the Cedar, the Dakota and First Avenue, tonight they open for Trampled By Turtles @ Pizza Luce. It will be hard to follow last night’s opening performance by Minneapolis roots-rockers A Night in the Box, though Michelle & co. will certainly cease your attention. Trampled By Turtles really loves their regional bands, supporting numerous, young, up and comers including A Night in the Box, Johnson Family Band, Hobo Nephews of Uncle Frank and many more.
The title track from the latest release by Trampled by Turtles, performed at the Beachland Tavern in Cleveland, Ohio on June 8.

Duluth’s Izaak Walton League is taking on the federal government (National Coast Guard and the Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service) to prompt federal protection of our shared resource (visit www.duluthikes.org for more information about this effort). Minnesota and Wisconsin, have already begun taking steps to clean up ballast water, but varying regulations from state to state are likely to create headaches and confusion among the shipping industry. The current effort calls for a unified solution for this national problem. Come listen to some good music and help protect our Lake.
