Gym to Crag: Top Rope Anchors Series
UMD's Sport and Rec center is hosting Gym to Crag: Top Rope Anchors. This series features four different sections about anchoring and outdoor rock climbing for newcomers or experiences climbers who are looking to work on their skills. RSOP is hosting a slackline clinic to challenge your balance, build core strength and have fun. Instructors will be on hand to teach the basics of beginning slacklining. Herbalist Allison Austin is teaching an in-depth class about all things Chaga. Learn how to ethically harvest chaga mushroom in order to promote more chaga growth, while helping to protect our birch forests. Ecstatic dance is free-form movement inspired by music. The Ecstatic Dance Duluth group holds dances on the second Friday and last Sunday of each month. The focus is on exercise without a nightclub vibe. Arrowhead Native Plant Explorers presents a workshop to learn simple observation techniques for identifying plants based on features and characteristics. Participants will be equipped with basic skills to conduct field identification independently. The event is led by Dr. Amanda Grusz the Director of the Olga Lakela Herbarium.

The Twin Ports' Harbor City Roller Derby team competes against the Minneapolis North Star Roller Derby team. The doors open at 5:30 p.m. and the first whistle blows at 6 p.m. Tickets are $15 at the door and kids under age 12 get in for free with a paid adult. An after party will be held at the Superior Flame following the competition.

Business and community leaders join together for the inaugural Sustainability Awards and a state-of-the-environment presentation which will detail a green opportunity that could help to define the region’s economic future. Dr. Jennifer King, from the National Renewable Energy Lab, will present research that indicates how Minnesota can build the infrastructure for green iron/steel, concrete, e-fuels and fertilizer.
