The DM&IR #332 steam locomotive is pulling special excursion trains on the North Shore Scenic Railroad on select dates from May 11 to Oct. 27. According to Trains Magazine’s Steam Across America 2023 Edition, there are only 181 working steam locomotives in operation. The Children's Organ Transplant Association along with the Duluth-Superior community has organized a walk for Roya Snyder, a 1st grader at Lester Park Elementary who recently received a life-saving heart transplant in February. Throughout Roya’s lifetime, she will need numerous follow-up clinic visits, anti-rejection medications and possibly additional transplants. Roya’s heart transplant-related expenses continue to be incurred even though her transplant has already happened. COTA helps families who are facing a life-saving transplant by providing fundraising assistance and family support.…

The STEAM Festival is a community event focusing on science, technology, engineering, art and mathematics. There will be a mix of hands-on experiments, exhibits, and interactive activities from local organizations including the Denfeld DNA robotics team, Duluth Superior Symphony Orchestra, 4-H, Duluth PTSA and more. Staci Lola Drouillard is presenting a story-time and book-signing as she debuts her new children's book A Family Tree. Staci Lola Drouillard lives and works in her hometown of Kitchibitobig — Grand Marais. Her first book for adults, Walking the Old Road: A People’s History of Chippewa City and the Grand Marais Anishinaabe, won the Hamlin Garland Prize in Popular History, the Northeastern Minnesota Book Award for nonfiction and was a finalist for the Minnesota Book Award.
