Cold weather experiments at Great Lakes Aquarium
We’ve been conducting a variety of cold weather experiments at Great Lakes Aquarium this week. The location is just about perfect for it; right on the waterfront in Duluth with a door connecting our classroom lab to the outside.
This video should serve as a reminder to make sure your hair and your clothes are completely dry before heading out.

Jambox – 01.18
When is the Friday night 2AM Jambox snowboard video in the Central Hillside going to get posted? Six people pulling a snowboarder back on a bungie to go off a makeshift ramp onto a dumpster, over a wall, and down to the old Daugherty Hardware parking lot. Awesome. Props to the snow removal guy in the Bobcat that freaked them all out until he explained he wanted to help them move snow for a better landing.

Tiffany Tarrolly and Pageant Police
Former Northland’s NewsCenter reporter Tiffany Tarrolly’s new project is called “Pageant Police,” a video series critiquing the physical beauty of contestants in the 2013 Miss USA pageant.

The concept of the series is essentially to say mean things about the physical appearance of women who are in pageants. So anyone annoyed by women who are in pageants can experience something worse: women who say mean things about women who are in pageants.
The only thing more annoying would be me, for posting this, but I’ll soon be eclipsed in the annoying rankings by everyone who watches this video and then comments on it.

Nerd Nite MN Episode 1 – Scooby Doo!
Luke Moravec takes a look at the history of the Hanna Barbera gang of sleuths. Recorded at Nerd Nite 19 on Oct. 30, 2012, at Teatro Zuccone in Duluth.
Don Ness Gregnam Style
This was part of Rubber Chicken Theater‘s holiday sketch comedy revue A Flood of Christmas Cheer, which was performed in December. The sketch parodied the “Gangnam Style” Korean pop song and viral music video that has inspired uncountable memes. The premise of the Rubber Chicken bit was that cast member Greg J. Anderson’s new dance was sweeping the Twin Ports and this video was his proof. Even Duluth Mayor Don Ness was doing it!
The Lowertown Line – Trampled by Turtles, hosted by Dessa
Perfect Duluth Day was invited to shoot photos for the pilot of the MN Original program The Lowertown Line at Twins Cities Public Television. The Lowertown Line is a music special hosted by hip-hop artist Dessa and featuring bluegrass band Trampled by Turtles and their special guest, fellow Duluth native Alan Sparhawk of Low. Duck Duck Punch has a new video, a new album and a gig coming up in Duluth — where the band was formed.
Nicholas David’s performances on The Voice
Eagan native Nicholas David (whose real name is David Mrozinski) has played Duluth a few times with Teague Alexy, and his aunt and uncle own the Duluth Grill.
Above he performs a medley of Jerry Lee Lewis’ “Great Balls of Fire” and Jimi Hendrix’s “Fire” during the Dec. 17 broadcast.
The winner of The Voice will be announced tonight during a two-hour broadcast on KBJR-TV channel 6.1. The prize is a recording contract with Universal Music Group. (more…)
