If you’re headed to the Park Point sales tomorrow, June 10, stop by and visit us on Minnesota Ave between 18th and 19th, on the Lake side.

We’ll also have CDs, including the new Mayor’s Mix, Homegrown coozies, and tees screenprinted with the logo above.

I’ve read a lot about fireworks safety!

When I was in kindergarten a stranger with one arm warned me sternly against ever using fireworks. But next week I’m turning 30 and apparently the terror of that day has receded in my memory because I’m ready to celebrate!

Where can a girl (responsibly and legally) get fireworks in these parts? A Google search turned up a number for an Arrowhead Fireworks (just rings), and I already tried that place in Superior that advertises the thrilling combination of fireworks, wild rice and lobster tails (they were closed for the month).

Homegrown Band and Musician Registration for 2011

Band and musician registration for the music festival with the most impressive ratio of big:cheap begins Jan. 15 and ends Feb. 15. If that seems early, it’s ’cause we moved it up after suddenly realizing no one was gonna stop us.

Homegrown’s Incubation Grants

To promote contemporary music education in K-12 schools, the Duluth Homegrown Music Festival proudly announces the first opportunity in its new grant-making program: Incubation Grants. Entering its 13th year, the Duluth Homegrown Music Festival will recognize the continued support of the Twin Ports’ unique music community by reinvesting in our youth. These Incubation Grants will be available to educators in public, private and home-school settings for up to $500 ($1,000 for educators who pool their resources) and can include instructional materials, textbooks, teacher training, field trips or any other expenditures directly related to beginning or enhancing an existing contemporary music curriculum. More information and an application can be found at duluthhomegrown.com. Applications are due Nov. 19, 2010.

Rock on, Little Dudes.

The Chicken Needs You

Not a fan of KUMD?

Well, I am. They gave me a chance to sit around with my better half for two hours a week listening to music and talking smack on air. Don’t care for their programming? Listen to The Funhouse tonight — Wednesday — from 7:00 to 9:00 and we promise to either change your mind or put you off KUMD permanently.

Plus, this week is the Funhouse Fun Drive with sponsorship gifts including CDs and the ever-coveted 10 screening pass for the Zinema 2, so you Current Lickers have the chance to put your money where your mouth is.

xoxo
