Happy 20th birthday to us!

Expressions of gratitude, reflections on past perfection and visions for the future might come later, but right now it’s time to party. Yes, Duluth’s Duluthiest website is 20 years old today.

God we're old.

I first came on board in 2003 on a tiny laptop that was eventually stolen from our house in Longfellow. It needed the cord to function. But they left the cord.

PDD is partly what drew me to Duluth. There were weirdos, and I'd found them.

Congrats Paul, Scott, Chase, and you other old weirdos.

I still had dial-up internet in 2003. And 2004. And part of 2005.

I don't recall the year I first posted. But shortly thereafter I found out that one of my cousins was responsible for the witty, snarky comments along with a whole other bunch of crazies.

I no longer live in Duluth, but about 1,340 miles almost due south in Gulfport, Miss. which is located on the Gulf of Mexico. I was born in Duluth in 1943 and last left there in 1972. In between I lived in England, Italy and Spain following my Air Force Stepfather and Mother around the world. From 1954 until 1960 I never saw the United States until our return in May 1960. That fall I joined the Navy and was gone until 1966 when my wife and I returned from two years in California. We made Duluth our home until a higher paying job took us away in 1969. Three years later after enduring the small town atmosphere of the Cuyuna Range in Crosby an even better job opportunity took us to where we have lived since May 1972. My cousin and I swap photos -- usually when winter has set in in Duluth and it's short sleeve/boating weather here. I look forward to reading and occasionally posting in the coming years. Congratulations to all of you for providing some chuckles and some information on a photo of my parents that I wasn't sure of the location.

And one of us ... it wouldn't let me upload two pics in one comment.

"I still had dial-up internet in 2003. And 2004. And part of 2005...."

I'm pretty sure there was exactly one internet connection at Emerson that everyone used from 2005 - 2007.

I had a 12" black and white TV at the time, too. I ran an antenna out the window.
