Advertisements from the Duluth Public Library Nostalgic Newsstand Sale: The Sportsman Magazine

Sportsman Magazine Ad

The Duluth Public Library’s Nostalgic Newsstand Sale was a source of many things to write about.

Just by calling this sale a “newsstand,” I got nostalgic. Newsstands were ubiquitous in my youth. The Sportsman magazine has stolen my heart because it promises to be a good gift that doesn’t cost too much. I loved receiving subscriptions when I was a kid, because it was really 12 gifts.

In Duluth, in the Old Days, you might have found such a magazine at Garfield News. Are any PDD readers old enough to have shopped or eaten there?

Ironic that the ad is for a magazine that the library didn't carry, to my knowledge at least. Looks like it didn't last very long.
