Postcard from Tri-Tower Apartments

This postcard from Gallagher’s Studio of Photography offers a 1970’s-era view of Tri-Tower Apartments at 220-226 N. Second Ave. E. in Duluth’s Central Hillside. The 15-story lobes were constructed in 1972 and are operated by the Housing and Redevelopment Authority of Duluth, providing low-rent living space for elderly people with limited incomes.

The attached Rainbow Senior Center offers meals and activities. King Manor, another HRA apartment building, is connected by a Skywalk bridging East Second Street.

The text on the back of the postcard reads:

Tri-Tower Apartments and Senior Center Complex
222 North 2nd Avenue East, Duluth, Minnesota 55805
Two-hundred ninety low rent apartments for the elderly and Senior Center Complex developed by the Housing and Redevelopment Authority. Special features of Complex include sauna, community spaces, laundry, meals, health, social services and leisure time facilities.
