I couldn't see Hamlet again this weekend if I wanted to, because I have other commitments, but I want to urge people to GO SEE THIS PLAY! This production is absolutely stellar, with an incredible cast of many of the region's finest actors. Paul Brissett's (Hamlet's father) face makeup is worth the price of admission in itself. And the death scene at the end... keep your eye on Julie Ahasay (Queen Gertrude). Nobody but nobody can die like she does! 

I've seen Broadway plays where I've had to shell out $80-100 for crappy seats way far back. I paid $15 for a front row seat to Hamlet opening night, and totally got more than my money's worth.

See it, you will be glad you did.

What a great show, and you get a glimpse of the interior of the Scottish Rite building. That was really interesting.

Definitely the venue is worth that $15 admission too. I hope the company stays there, it's a fabulous theatre. AND it's near Hanabi for pre-theatre dining!

I also thought the play was very well done. This Shakespeare fellow seems to know his craft well.

I would greatly suggest that all of you go see this production before it's too late. Like before you die from a poisoned sword and don't make it to the Scottish Rite Theatre or something.

But seriously, really good acting, well directed and a lovely evening out. Wish I had gone to Hanabi.

Last weekend to see Hamlet at the Scottish Rite! Don't feel like a schmuck when people ask you if you saw this rendition, and you have to say you passed it up. The wise Fool company has truly created one of the best Shakespeare performances I've ever seen, and we in Duluth are damn lucky to have such talent in living in our midst.

I saw the play last night--solid production of a well-written play. The lead role was very well conceived and acted, and the director is the same person who plays Hamlet, so the play has a fairly clear vision. Lots of good performances in other roles, too. Well worth seeing. 

After the play, take a look at the drops concealed above the stage--a UMD theater professor told me last night they are around 100 years old and were used to serve as the backdrops for various of the Scottish Rite secret rituals.

I heard that the masons have backdrops for Mozart's "The Magic Flute." There's some connection to that work for the masons, apparently. I spied the drops but didn't get a good look at them.
