Other Signs of Spring …

Homegrown Week, I know.

Homegrown Festival is a sign of spring for many PDDers, no doubt. But for me one of my favorite signs that Spring is underway is when my lilacs bloom. Or appear to be near blooming, as is the case here.

Any guesses how long it will be before this bush does bloom? You can guess based on observations of this shot taken in my front yard this afternoon, the forecast for the next few weeks, or any other metric you can think of. I’m just excited to see the buds, changes my whole perspective from the street on up. And after planting the bushes in ’02 shortly after I moved in, I do think this will be one of the best years ever based on the winter precip, temperatures and the maturity of my roots and so on.
