Preserving the Harvest: Canning Tomatoes
Learn how to process tomatoes, Duluth's Vegetable of the Year. Participants in this class will learn how to can garden tomatoes in their home kitchen safely, and preserve their fresh summer flavor all year long. The process of how to can a pantry staple, salsa, will be demonstrated. Guidance and recipes will also be provided for canning marinara and raw tomatoes. In this hands-on cooking class, attendees learn how to make two different kinds of Jjigae, a Korean stew. The class will start with a basic vegan version and move on to Cham-Chee Jjigae, made with pork and tuna. Folks get to sample each dish and leave with the knowledge to make Jjigae at home. As an allergen warning for those who are allergic, the vegan version contains sesame and soy. The non-vegan version contains fish, shellfish, sesame and soy.

This class will explore coffee brewing methods from drip and pour-over to French press, moka pot, ibrik/Turkish coffee, AeroPress, siphon and espresso. Learn it all from Justin, the owner of Almanac Coffee. Experiment with various brewing techniques during the session.
