Lorena Suarez, a doctoral candidate specializing in orchestral conducting at the University of Arizona Fred Fox School of Music, holds a Master of Music in orchestral conducting from the University of Minnesota Duluth. This concert is a pairing string quartets by Austrian composer Franz Joseph Haydn and living California-based composer Gabriela Lena Frank. Performing on stages and in concert halls across Europe, Asia, Australia and North America, Kenny Broberg has worked with some of the world’s most respected conductors and collaborated with numerous prestigious symphonies. Matinee Musicale’s annual College Awards Concert features 12 young musicians from the College of St. Scholastica, UMD and UW-Superior. Matinee Musicale awards a $500 scholarship to each of the selected musicians.
