The Banyan Tree: Storytelling Workshop with Artist Roshan Ganu

Multimedia artist Roshan Ganu invites the public to take part in a community art project in which photography, videography and the written words of participants create the stories told around the Banyan Tree.

The Banyan Tree, a 6-by-5-foot sculpture installed in the Steffl Gallery at the Duluth Art Institute, becomes a gathering space for people to connect and share stories around a theme. Participants receive prompts and ideas to write personal narratives inspired by Ganu’s works of art. Ganu hopes participants will recount moments of everyday existence, emphasizing the idea that art is not limiting; it inspires us to connect by being vulnerable with each other.

Proof of vaccination is required to attend this event. Participants must bring a copy of their vaccination card and a form of identification. Masks are required.
