Opening Reception for “In Situ: Studio 101 Artists” and “Forever Home”

Celebrate two new exhibits with one big reception. “In Situ” showcases multiple paintings from seven artists who share a studio downtown. They will recreate the atelier and paint live every Wednesday. “Forever Home” features photos by Lisa Johnson that look at the before-and-after stories of adopted pets; as well as work from community artists that celebrate their own pets.

Opening Reception for “Laurentian: Paul LaJeunesse and Lake Superior Wood Turners” and Faith King Exhibit

The Laurentian Mixed Forest Province is a forested eco-region in the United States and Canada, and Laurentian celebrates the wild woodland surrounding Duluth with five new paintings by Paul LaJeunesse, correlating sound-based works, and turned wood pieces by the Lake Superior Wood Turners. Also on view is Faith King’s new exhibit around Ekphrastic Poetry including 10 of her original poems and 10 works of art -- five by local artists and five by King.

Finnish 100 Together—Yhdessa

On Dec. 6, 1917, Finland declared itself an independent republic, rejecting its status as an autonomous Grand Duchy of Russia. Approximately 50 artists will be showing pieces that illustrate historical and contemporary subjects of Finnish or Finnish-American peoples, culture, nature or traditions.
