Drawing Fundamentals with Ray Allard
Event Navigation
Multidisciplinary artist Ray Allard teaches this casual drawing class that focuses on using different drawing tools. Allard teaches students how to manipulate pencils, pens, brushes, ink, felt brush markers, radiographs and quill pens to create drawings that highlight their unique creative expression.
Allard will include supportive critiques and guidance, promoting the idea that drawing is fun and can be an enjoyable way to pursue art at any level. The class is best suited for ages 16 and up. Students should bring a sketchbook and any materials they enjoy drawing with. The Duluth Art Institute will provide all other supplies.
Allard is a cartoonist, illustrator, graphic artist, printmaker, writer, poet, filmmaker, photographer, papermaker, teacher, philosopher, and musician. His comics appear weekly in the Duluth Reader.
Classes are held on three Tuesday nights — Nov. 2, 9 and 16 from 6 to 9 p.m. The cost is $30 for DAI members and $35 for non-members. Proof of vaccination is required to participate. On the first day of class students must present their vaccine card (or a copy of it) and a form of identification. Masks will be required.
