All the way from California comes Samantha Henson. This is some fresh new music, and the Earth Rider Brewery likes to support live music as much as possible. It's not often musicians passing through all the way from California visit here, and this is some outstanding talent coming to Duluth.

MorningBird is singer-songwriter Rob Wheeler and violinist Jill Burkes — both from the Northern Minnesota area. Burkes and Wheeler harmonize together on classic folk covers and originals. MorningBird recorded their first EP, Cosmic Escape in 2021 and their newest single, Old Missabe Road, was released in Jan. 2023.

Three fantastic acts will share songs on the Cedar Lounge stage on Saturday April 8th. Since crossing paths on two separate occasions back in 2017, Emma and Henry have been inseparable. They have spent the past two years playing their fun-loving style of sweet and stompy world music in places like the south of France and in the Alps. With Emma’s beautiful and effortless singing in French, English, Spanish and Italian and Henry’s multi-instrumental one-man music machine, they make quite a pair as Water Cat.

Harnessing high-energy roots music and improvisation, Jeff Ray and the Stakes from Minneapolis released a pandemic-inspired original album In the Fire.  Sounding equal parts Ry Cooder, Grateful Dead and RL Burnside, Ray sports a bottleneck glass slide and national resonator guitar.

Led by Homegrown legend Leon Rohrbaugh, A Band Called Truman is a seven-piece, horn-centric rock band. The group plays uptempo originals with a punky, soul groove that sounds like the music Buddy Holly might have made if he recorded at Stax!

Ruben is a rock ‘n soul band from the St. Croix River Valley town of Stillwater, Minnesota. The band is made up of Daniel Schiltz, Sam Ziemer, Catie Ziemer and Mack Ziemer. With each member taking lead vocal turns, the songs are often rich with beautiful melodies, close four-part harmonies and warm horns.

In 2021, singer-songwriter Andrew James Spaeth put together a band to record songs he’d been performing as a solo acoustic artist. Now his studio band is taking those songs to the stage as the four-piece rock and blues band, Grand Holler. Joining Spaeth in the group are Jesse Annala, Mark Erickson and Travis Farleigh. Mixing swing and jazz into folk-themed stories of love, Skarlett Wood has a stage presence that demands the attention of a room. Taking her listeners on an upbeat rhythmic ride over heart-swelling arrangements of originals and covers, Wood has simply become more comfortable showing herself in the lights. She is currently in the studio set to release a single and is gearing up for an album release in the Fall of 2023.

The Make-Believe Spurs' sound and setup is versatile, ranging from stripped-down acoustic performances to electric-driven romps for the dance floor. Be prepared for a fun mix of originals and original-sounding covers.

Twin Ports up and coming musical darling is known for performing a thoughtful array of originals and covers. Ross took a hiatus over the winter of '22-23 to hone in on his craft, write songs and record his first full-length album.

Based out of the backwoods just north of Duluth, The Brothers Burn Mountain are a soulful, energetic, eclectic duo of real-life brothers, Ryan and Jesse Dermody. They’ve been playing music together everyday as a duo for 20 years. They’ve released 9 full-length albums of original music and have toured across the country having played more than 1,800 live shows.

Americana and country artist Austin Castle is a musician based out of Duluth. His music showcases versatility, powerful vocals and relatable storytelling. Castle is inspired by a variety of artists, ranging from Muddy Waters to Morgan Wallen.

Coop and the Kooks is a surf, punk and old-school rock band featuring Jimi Cooper, Darryn Wallace and Marv Pomeroy. The set list leans heavy on music by Link Wray and Dick Dale with a side of the Ventures.

It’s safe to say guitarist Jason Wussow and bassist Veikko Lepisto’s ska band Woodblind has become a Duluth music institution. The pair have performed their catchy, clever and dance-till-you-die original music in pizza parlors, breweries and coffee shops across the northland for years. The duo has released two full-length albums featuring guest turns from an all-star team of local musicians who also frequently join the fun on stage.
