Twin Ports Festival of History 2023: Cup of History

Mar 31, 2023, 10:00 am to 11:00 am | Free | Two Harbors Public Library

Event Navigation

The European discovery of the American continents was not an event which occurred as the result of one voyage of discovery and conquest or another, but it was a process that took nearly two centuries. Dr. Steven Matthews of UMD’s Museum Studies program reveals the tale told by maps of the 16th and 17th centuries.

The presentation “Cup of History: Maps of the New World, and the Curious Case of the ‘Discovery of America'” will take place in the Community Room at the Two Harbors Public Library.

The second annual Twin Ports Festival of History runs March 30 to April 4 at multiple venues in Duluth and Superior and features lectures, tours and more. The event aims to provide those with an interest in history an opportunity to listen and discuss topics with authors and historians of local, regional, national and international renown.

The full schedule of daily events and their locations is available on the Twin Ports Festival of History webpage.
