Event Navigation

“Silent Sky” is based on the true story of 19th-century astronomer Henrietta Leavitt. With her fellow female Harvard University observatory researchers, Leavitt discovered thousands of stars and set standards still used today for measuring distances in space. Told with humor, the play is a fun and moving romp through history that touches on themes of gender equality and following one’s passions.

Attendees will be invited to explore the cosmos themselves. The UMD Alworth Planetarium will lead a stargazing activity in Ordean Court after every evening performance.

Special dates include a Talk Back performance on Tuesday, March 14, at 7:30 p.m. and an ASL performance on Sunday, March 19, at 2 p.m.
