The Dark Sky Caravan is hitting the road again and celebrating Minnesota’s dark skies through virtual events and star parties. Full details here.
First, Planetarium staff and local partners hit Facebook Live on August 9-10 at 7 p.m. to talk about the efforts to preserve dark skies. After that, star parties happen each night from Aug 11-14 at 8-10 p.m., with telescope-viewing and live star shows (weather permitting). Different locations every night:
Wednesday 8/11: Outside the Marshall W. Alworth Planetarium, UMD, Duluth. In addition to the star party, guests can enjoy a short (15-minute) planetarium show. Shows will run every 20 minutes starting at 8 p.m. Show sizes are limited to 13 people and all guests must wear a mask inside the Planetarium.
Thursday 8/12: Tettegouche State Park
Friday 8/13: North House Folk School, Grand Marais
Saturday 8/14: Chik-Wauk Museum and Nature Center
