Julebyen Scandinavian Christmas Village 2019
The seventh annual Knife River Julebyen, a Scandinavian-themed Christmas festival, runs Dec. 7-8, Indoor and outdoor marketplaces will showcase wares of artisans selected by a juried process, including crafts created in Knife River. There will also be bake goods, entertainment in the Gnome Dome, a Writer’s Corner in Troll Village, winter outdoor fun and children’s games including a live nativity and celebration of music on Sunday. This four-and-a-half-hour workshop will guide participants through the process of making a traditional 108-bead necklace. The day will begin with a little bit of history of the mala. Then beads will be chosen and participants will be guided through an intention meditation. That will be followed by the work of constructing malas. After the group has finished there will be a blessing of the new malas.

The 10th annual Christmas market in Superior features a bonfire, cookies, cider, craft vendors with items from the Northland and Germany and Santa and his elf Niki. The location is the community garden on the corner of Hammond Avenue and Broadway Street.

The Minnesota Finnish American Historical Society – Lakehead Chapter hosts the 39th annual Pikkujoulu celebration featuring Finnish dinner, music and a special visit from Joulupukki (Santa).
