NAACP Martin Luther King Holiday Planning Meeting
The Duluth Branch of the NAACP is beginning plans for the 2023 MLK Holiday. Their focus as a branch will be on reviving the March and Rally, which will be held this year on Monday, Jan. 16, 2023. For the third year in a row, Affinity Plus Federal Credit Union is inviting community members to donate their loose change to support hunger relief efforts throughout Minnesota. All donations in Duluth will support Second Harvest Northern Lakes. Affinity Plus will match contributions up to $25,000. Chum Duluth holds volunteering opportunities on the second Saturday of each month. This month the group is baking cookies from 9 a.m. to noon to mark special holidays throughout the season. Volunteers can bring their favorite recipes and any specialized ingredients or equipment. Chum will supply pantry staples like flour, sugar, butter, eggs, baking powder and soda, salt, and milk. In this Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Duluth forum, Nell Cerar of Together for Youth presents on gender expression, gender identity and the current needs of LGBTQ+ youth.
