Big Top Chautauqua has a new year-round performance space -- the Backstage. Every Wednesday a special guest host presents Open Mic Night, offering attendees the opportunity to sing a song, play a tune, tell a joke or tell a story. Drinks and lite fare are available for purchase.

The 26th annual Homegrown Music Festival runs April 28 to May 5, featuring about 160 bands at 35 venues in Duluth and Superior. Weeklong admission wristbands are $40. Day four is Westside Wednesday, with all performances in West Duluth. The annual Twin Ports music festival comes to Superior at the Cedar Lounge and Earth Rider Brewery Festival Field with live music on both stages. The line-up includes: Superior Mayor’s Reception, Bigbabyjay, Thor Leseman, Kaylee Matuszak, the Old Smugglers, Greg Cougar Conley, Boog3ym3n and The Spin Collective. Ticket prices for the entire festival are: $40 for a weeklong wristband (all eight days), $25 for a single-day wristband (Friday or Saturday) and $15 for a single-night (Monday-Thursday).

Some of his songs include Wildfire, Carolina In The Pines, Geronimo’s Cadillac, Cowboy Logic, Cherokee Fiddle and Boy From The Country. Advance ticket prices are $11 for students and $29 for adults. Ticket prices at the door are $16 for students and $34 for adults.

The Great Lakes Academy of Fine Art hosts its 8th annual exhibition featuring new works by students and faculty. This event is free to the public. The open house will be held on Friday, May 3rd, from 5 pm to 9 pm and Saturday May 4th, from 12 noon to 5 pm. This event will feature live music opening night and a food truck on site both days. Work will be available for purchase to support the students.
