For half a century, the Duluth NAACP has been gathering in community to celebrate Freedom Day, and for their 50th celebration this year, they are going all out. The celebration includes music, free dinner, vendors, community information tables, a photo booth and more fun events for the whole family. The fourth annual Festival by the Lake features food, live music, a children’s fun area, product and service displays, shopping, demonstrations, arts and crafts, beer and other exhibits of interest. Gates open at 11 a.m. Admission is $5, which benefits the Bluebird Foundation, a nonprofit that awards grants and scholarships to regional high-school-age students in the performing arts. Children ages 12 and under are admitted free when accompanied by an adult.
