Duluth has seen a multitude of music and arts ‘zines over the years. They are a part of culture that connect and inform people about niche things in a community. In the past, Duluth has watched ‘zines such as The Transistor come and go, but now there is a new sheriff ‘zine-maker in town and her name is Kristi Olson, creator of Duluth music publication On the Record. Spookin’ at the Irvin: An Inside Look at the Duluth Haunted Ship

Most Duluthians can say they have taken the Duluth Haunted Ship tour, but how many have been on the other side? Every year this haunted attraction reaches out to invite volunteers to participate in the spooking instead of being spooked. I was able to get behind the scenes, uncover the creepiness and see how organizers of this historically haunted attraction keep things afloat (get it?) throughout the season.

Outdoor music saw a boom during the pandemic out of necessity, but on warm summer days the preferred concert venues have always been those with free-flowing air. With the Duluth-area music scene continuing to flourish and touring artists on the move, the season has music to soothe all souls with genres spanning the realms of rock, pop, hip hop, folk and more.
