The Duluth Strangler

The 1998 satirical comedy Wrongfully Accused, starring Leslie Nielsen, is available to watch in its entirety on YouTube. A reference to “The Duluth Strangler” shows up around the 18-minute mark.

The first mention of “The Duluth Strangler” on Perfect Duluth Day goes back to 2008. It’s worth noting once more since a) the old post is on a clunky platform and can’t be properly tagged, and b) we now have embeddable video.

As noted in the 2008 post, the film is written, produced and directed by Pat Proft, who was born and raised in the Twin Cities suburb Columbia Heights. Proft has a penchant for mentioning Minnesota places — a key character in Wrongfully Accused is actually named Hibbing.
