Cate Kratville-Wrinn, a railroad historian and journalist who is currently documenting the restoration of equipment donated by the Union Pacific to Railroading Heritage Midwest in Silvis, Illinois, presents a behind-the-scenes look at the restoration of the historic UP steam engines #3985 Challenger and #5511 2-10-2 as well as Centennial diesel #6936.

Hot Stove Nights are free to the public and include complimentary soda, coffee or water and cookies. Please enter through the North Shore Scenic Railroad entrance at the back of the Depot.

The third annual Twin Ports Festival of History runs April 3-9 at multiple venues in Duluth and Superior. It features lectures, tours and more. The event aims to provide those with an interest in history an opportunity to listen and discuss topics with authors and historians of local, regional, national and international renown. It is sponsored by the University of Minnesota Duluth’s Public History and Museum Studies Programs and the multiple heritage organizations that are putting on events.
