Event Navigation

Zenith Bookstore hosts local authors with new books for signing events throughout the holidays. On Small Business Saturday – the Saturday after Thanksgiving – the authors are Sarah Bamford Seidelmann, Tashia Hart and Marcie Rendon.

11 a.m. to 1 p.m. – Duluth author Sarah Bamford Seidelmann is a fourth-generation physician turned shamanic healer and life coach who deeply enjoys shenanigans. She loves to help others find their own “feel good” so they can live courageously and enthusiastically. Her new book of visionary fiction, Where the Deer Dream: A Coming of Age Adventure in Spriit, tells the story of 17-year-old Meera, whose imperfect life is set to unfold perfectly when an unexpected discovery sends her deep into an unknown world to hunt for help.

1 to 3 p.m. – Tashia Hart (Red Lake Anishinaabe) is an award-winning author and illustrator. Her new cookbook The Good Berry Cookbook: Harvesting and Cooking Wild Rice and Other Wild Foods was recently released by the Minnesota Historical Society. The book is an intimate narrative of resilience woven together with 75+ recipes featuring manoomin (wild rice) and other wild foods of Minnesota, including recipes from Indigenous cooks from different Nations. Hart lives at Onigamiinsing in Duluth with her husband, two cats and a turtle.

3 to 5 p.m. – Marcie Rendon is the author of the mysteries Girl Gone Missing and Murder on the Red River. She is an enrolled member of the White Earth Nation, author, playwright, poet and community arts activist, and has an extensive body of fiction and nonfiction works. Murder on the Red River is the current statewide read for One Book One Minnesota. Rendon is listed on Oprah Magazine’s 2020 list of 31 Native American authors to read. Other awards include the 2020 McKnight Distinguished Artist Award, and 50 over 50 Change-maker by MN AARP. Girl Gone Missing is her second Cash Blackbear novel and was nominated for the Putnam’s Sons’ Sue Grafton Memorial Award at the 2020 Edgars. Rendon lives in Minneapolis.
