Dirtbike Boyfriend

Dirtbike Boyfriend is a solo indy-folk, poetry-rock project launched by photographer, clothing designer and videographer Bret Holland. Holland sings like Daniel Johnston in a crash helmet and strums a laid-back electric guitar like he doesn’t want to break it. The full-length debut Yamaha, released on Bandcamp in 2022, features a collection of sharp, wickedly observational songs about getting high behind the hardware store, being chased by police and moving to the country. Dirtbike Boyfriend sounds fresh, takes unexpected turns and dives into dark places without feeling heavy.

Beaver Falls native Austin Castle Ourada got his start in music while studying audio production in the Twin Cities and working in a lumberyard to earn money for recording studio time. He moved to Duluth about three years ago and released his debut album Northwoods in August. While primarily focused on country music, he explores multiple genres with the general goal to make music his friends and family can sing along with. Cole Mikel Gewerth fills out the sound on guitar.

The music of Duluth-based Americana singer-songwriter Grant Glad transforms the day-to-day struggle of American living into foot-stomping, full-hearted anthems about chasing dreams and dancing. At times twangy, at times funky, his albums stretch the boundaries of several genres to produce something entirely new, songs that offer the loose, raw spirit of punk rock, the bold, driving rhythms of roots rock-and-roll, and the rich sense of personal history that makes classic country forever relevant.
