Book Launch: Linda LeGarde Grover Presents The Sky Watched

Zenith Bookstore hosts Linda LeGarde Grover for the launch of the new edition of her poetry collection The Sky Watched: Poems of Ojibwe Lives. Legarde Grover will be joined by writers from the Thunderbird Review, the literary and arts journal of Fond Du Lac Tribal and Community College.

The launch will take place at Dovetail Café in the Duluth Folk School. Proof of COVID-19 vaccination or a negative test result in the past 72 hours, along with masking are required.

Linda LeGarde Grover is professor emerita of American Indian studies at the University of Minnesota Duluth and a member of the Bois Forte Band of Ojibwe. Her books The Road Back to Sweetgrass, Onigamiising: Seasons of an Ojibwe Year, In the Night of Memory, and Gichigami Hearts: Stories and Histories from Misaabekong, all from Minnesota, have earned numerous awards, including the Native Writers Circle of the Americas First Book Award; Northeastern Minnesota Book Awards for poetry, memoir and fiction; and a Minnesota Book Award for memoir and creative nonfiction. Her book of stories The Dance Boots received the Flannery O’Connor Award and the Janet Heidinger Kafka Prize. Her memoir Gichigami Hearts was the One Boook Northland read in 2022.

Joining the launch program will be writers and staff from the Thunderbird Review. Fond du Lac Tribal and Community College has published the sixth edition of its literary and arts anthology, which features writing and art submitted by students and residents of northeastern Minnesota and northwestern Wisconsin communities. The anthology provides an opportunity for students to gain hands-on experience in writing, editing and publishing.
