Bob Dylan (aka Robert Zimmerman of Hibbing, MN) is turning 70 in May. In anticipation of the big day, we want to gather memories, stories and thoughts about Bob Dylan and his music. Thanks to his shape-shifting, the man and his music mean something different to nearly everyone.

Big Top Chautauqua 2011

Summer is approaching, slow though it may seem, and concert junkies need to begin filling in their 2011 summer itineraries. Our good friends in Wisconsin are helping get a jump on this planning as Lake Superior Big Top Chautauqua has announced its initial summer performers.

See the full list here. Highlights include Greg Brown, Arlo Guthrie, Dar Williams, Nanci Griffith, and many more. The clincher for me is a two-night stand from folk legend John Prine on Aug. 20-21. A trip to Wisconsin may be in order.

Low – “Belarus”

This video was shot at various familiar locations in and around Duluth.

By the way, in addition to being a country, Belarus is also the name of a manufacturer of upright pianos.

Elton John: Anyone manage to get tickets?

I was up and ready at my computer Monday morning when tickets went on sale for Sir Elton’s upcoming Duluth performance on May 6. Unfortunately,  after much ‘refreshing’ and ‘searching’ I did not secure tickets for my wife and I. Looks like tickets are readily available for a much larger price on Stubhub; not sure if I’m willing to drop that much cash though.

Anyone else have a similar experience, or were you able to land tickets?
