The brilliant John Mark Nelson has been in high rotation on the Dean’s List on KUWS! If you were alive in the 2000s, then you were part of the international phenomenon knows as Bothomania, an uncontrollable urge to listen to Both. Unfortunately for many, this frenzy often resulted in the complete and total destruction of all physical materials associated with the band.
Flash forward to today (the future and present), where we have all shuffled off this physical coil and all things are made accessible though tubes aligned in series. Things including the three (3) studio albums (aka LPs aka CDs) that the band released before achieving a simultaneous state of burning out and fading away.
You can stream them (aka listen to them on your computing box/calculator) and download them (aka store them on your phone/game machine) for free (aka for no money or trade) here and here and here but not here.
Gear stolen from Sacred Heart Studio
Sunday afternoon, Sept. 30, someone entered Sacred Heart Studio while I was in the back office and made off with two items; a green Matchless DC 30 combo guitar amplifier and a red Fender PJ bass. I am posting a picture of a similar amp.
The theft has been reported to the police. If you have any information about these items please contact the Duluth police or call/text me at 218-390-4794. Thanks for any help.

David Bazan live from Sacred Heart
David Bazan and Andy Fitts recently came to Duluth to do two living-room shows in Duluth. I was thrilled at the opportunity to get him to come to Sacred Heart and record some songs and be a part of a Lakefront Videos project. I think it turned out super sweet.

Is that the lift bridge?
Is that the lift bridge at 2:56? I also thought the fireworks scene looked vaguely Duluthy at first but on second and third glance I don’t see how it could be, the bridge is in the wrong position related to the fireworks unless they are coming from Superior. Great time to start piano lessons
The start of the school year is coming up pretty quickly. It’s a great time to start taking piano lessons. I’ve been a piano teacher for 18 years, and moved here from Chicago, where I taught full time, about a year ago. I’m looking for students for my growing studio.
I’ve also recently moved to a house within the city of Duluth. I’m now in a great, easily accessible spot which I would love to disclose to anyone in a private email. Flood Video: Calling Extras to the Set
LoLa Visuals is putting together a video for the city of Duluth to bring to the state legislature in attempts to attain state assistance for flood victims. We are filming the closing shot Aug. 19 at 5 p.m. in Canal Park by the pier and need as many people as possible to come join. The final shot will include Sarah Krueger singing “High Tide or Low Tide” with an expanse of Duluthians surrounding her swaying to the music; a final plea for the state to stand by us in both high times and low times.
Duluth Does Beck’s Mystery Album?
So, Beck is releasing a new album in December. But it isn’t an album per se, it’s sheet music. My question being, when does the Duluth Does Beck’s Mystery Album show happen? January?

I recently printed the new Lion or Gazelle album jackets and put together an animated loop set to the title track for everyone. I also wanted to encourage everyone to attend the Chaperone Records Inaugural Bash/Record Release Party at the Zeitgeist Arts Cafe Friday, Aug. 10, at 7 p.m. In addition to seeing Lion or Gazelle perform live will be a number of other great local musicians.
