Painting Charlie Parr’s guitar, and who the heck is Dave Hundrieser?
My wife, Shawna Gilmore, has an interesting job. Today, for example, she painted the back of Charlie Parr’s amazing guitar. The instrument is a phenomenal work of art, both front and back. Next Tuesday is a great opportunity to come out and hear Charlie make music with it alongside his good buddy, Dave Hundrieser. Jim Hall – “Beast in the Yard”
When Jim Hall was at my house I asked him if I could record his song “Beast in the Yard.” It’s sort of a meditation on consumerism with some great imagery nude celebs in the lyrics. Hall plays at Tycoons Supper Club this Saturday at 9 p.m.

Cloud Cult – “No Hell” (Homemade Lyric Video)
“No Hell” is the first single from Cloud Cult’s forthcoming album The Seeker, scheduled for release in February. The official music video will be released in December. For now, the band put together this “quick homemade behind-the-scenes lyric video, shot lo-fi on a phone” in the “woods where most of these songs are written.”

Duluth rockers RoofTop Fable team up the Spin Collective fire dancers to create this unique visual experience. “Fighting the Current” is off the band’s debut album, Chapter One, which will be released Nov. 21 at R.T. Summer Music in Review
The summer is over, and there is so much music I heard that I have not yet written about here.
The most complicated performance of the summer, for me, was watching Tim Kaiser and Robot Rickshaw at Beaners. (All the videos that follow are not the performances I saw, but just tasters.)

Trampled by Turtles – “It’s a War” live at Red Rocks
Trampled by Turtles played a killer show Saturday night at Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Colorado. The night was led off by Shakey Graves, then Elephant Revival played a great set before the Turtles took the stage. They closed the show with “It’s a War.”
