Eight Wolf Pups Scampering Along the Trail
The Half-Moon Pack of wolves at Voyageurs National Park had the largest litter of any pack observed at the park this year with eight pups. The largest litter ever documented by the Voyageurs Wolf Project was nine pups. The project is focused on understanding the summer ecology of wolves in the park, located about 120 miles north of Duluth. (more…)
The Slice: Sean Connaughty’s Art at Sugarloaf Cove
Artist Sean Connaughty seeks to repay nature for what human’s gain from it. The installation at Sugarloaf Cove Nature Center, about 65 miles northeast of Duluth, is sponsored by the Grand Marais Art Colony and will remain on display as long as nature allows.

Jay Christensen, the talented drone pilot and former Duluthian who captured the amazing Bryant-Lake Bowl fly through a couple of months ago, sent his camera spinning through the halls, rooms and grounds at Glensheen Mansion.
Video Archive: Grandma’s Marathon of 1979
WDIO-TV assembled these 16mm film clips of raw footage from the third annual Grandma’s Marathon, held on June 23, 1979. British runner Ricky Wilde won the race that year with a time of 2:14:44; he can be seen in some slow-motion footage taken from a vehicle riding alongside him on the racecourse.
The Ethel Ray Nance Story
Karen Nance — author, public speaker and attorney — is the granddaughter of civil rights activist Ethel Ray Nance, who was part of one of the few biracial families in Duluth in 1920. The family lived just four blocks from the site of the 1920 lynchings of Elias Clayton, Elmer Jackson and Isaac McGhie. (more…)

Spring at a Northwoods Creek
The latest video from the Voyageurs Wolf Project shows the array of wildlife that visited a small creek in Voyageurs National Park over the course of a few weeks in May. Critters passing though include a bear, wolf, fisher, marten, owl, porcupine and more.

The wolf pup in this video was trying its best to howl, but just couldn’t quite get it out. The footage is of the Paradise Pack of wolves at Voyageurs National Park, observed with a Voyageurs Wolf Project‘s trail camera. The project is focused on understanding the summer ecology of wolves in the park, located about 120 miles north of Duluth.

Take a trip 130 years into the past with a visit to the 1890s classroom museum at historic Old Central High School. Visitors can view what a classroom at the turn of the century looked like and can even tour the iconic bell tower.

Superior Siren – “Alive” (Live at Sacred Heart Music Center)
Eerie folk band Superior Siren performed a livestream from Sacred Heart Music Center on May 2. Wherehouse Productions has now released this video single from the show, featuring the song “Alive” from the band’s self-titled 2018 release.
The performance was part of the Minnesota Music Coalition‘s Minnesota Music Summit and also was integrated into the Homegrown Music Festival.
Video Archive: Bob Dylan’s childhood home in Hibbing, 1988
WDIO-TV has pulled this relic from its archive to share during Duluth Dylan Fest week. The news clip is from Oct. 10, 1988. Dylan’s boyhood home was on the market at the time. Reporter Leonard Lee went inside the house and into the former bedroom of the music icon where a shrine of sorts had been displayed. Items of note: an autograph from a pre-fame Bobby Zimmerman and a mezuzah shaped like a guitar.
The moments where the video briefly drops out are glitches in the 3/4-inch tape.
